Questions and answers
- How is the distance calculated?
- From the coordinates of the city you typed and the supplier's own stored city, both matched against the same open GeoNames place list (CC BY 4.0) — a straight-line distance, not a driving distance, and never estimated when a place is not in that list.
- Why does it say no supplier is nearby?
- Most cities in Europe have no approved supplier close to them yet: the directory lists real, individually checked companies, not a supplier for every place. The tool says so plainly instead of showing an unrelated result.
- Does a nearby supplier guarantee stock or fast delivery?
- No. Distance only tells you how far away the company is registered, not what it has in stock right now or how it ships. Suppliers commonly deliver across the EU whatever city they are in — contact the ones shown to ask about stock and delivery.
- Which places does the tool recognise?
- Cities and towns of the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein with a population of about 5,000 or more, from the open GeoNames dataset. A smaller village may not be in the list.
